Smolensk Cable Manufacturing Plant Invests 200 Million Rubles in the Enterprise Modernization

This became known during a working meeting in the Department of Industry and Trade of the Smolensk Region with the new owner, General Director of Locomotive-Diesel-Service Sergey Gorelov. The plant plans to supply armored cable for the needs of Russian Railways and oil and gas companies.

According to Sergey Gorelov, the legal proceedings for the plant complex property are currently being completed. The immediate plans include establishing a new legal entity, the official recruitment of up to 200 new employees and return of cable to production for the construction industry. In the future, the new owner is ready to modernize the production and to purchase new modern equipment in the amount of about 200 million rubles for expanding the products range: power cable for the construction industry and armored cable for the needs of Russian Railways and large oil and gas companies.

It should be recalled that in early 2018, Smolensk Cable Manufacturing Plant faced a problem of marketing and, despite the assistance of the regional authorities and a cooperation with regional construction organizations, began to lose the volume of orders. By the end of 2018, the production almost has been brought to a standstill in the enterprise. The Administration of the Smolensk Region began to search for a new investor, and already in September 2019 the plant, in fact, bought a new investor, the Locomotive-Diesel-Service company.

Smolensk Cable Manufacturing Plant has been operating in the field of cable producing for 23 years. The company produces more than two hundred label sizes of cable and wires for domestic needs: power cables and installation wires are used in domestic buildings, household buildings, baths, offices, non-production buildings. The products of Smolensk Cable Manufacturing Plant JSC meet Russian and world quality standards, which is confirmed by certificates from the most famous professional certification centers for cable products, Sekab and Pozhpolisert. Since 2005, the company has been a member of the Electrocabel international Association, which unites manufacturers of cable and conductor products of Russia and CIS countries. The cable products sale throughout the plant operating period was carried out in all territory of Russia: Moscow, Kazan, Krasnodar, Stavropol and other cities.
