The working group of JSC "Safonovsky Zavod" "Thermocontrol" held a training course "Rapid Realignment SMED".
The members of the working group of JSC "Safonovsky Zavod" "Thermocontrol" analyzed the redeployment process and identified potential for optimization - more than 30% time can be saved after implementation of proposed improvements.Equipment retooling does not add value to the product; it is classified in the concept of lean manufacturing as an operational loss that must be minimized. It is not possible to completely exclude redeployments, but by systematically improving processes, they can actually be at least halved in duration.
Regular work to reduce realignment time leads to the following:
- Reduce the time spent on reconfiguration;
- Reduce the material and parts involved in the process, thereby increasing its efficiency;
- Increase the capacity utilization rate;
- Develop standardized rearrangement methods that ensure consistent quality even for small batches of products;
- Switch to small batches production, which contributes to the reduction of warehouse stocks.
